Staff Handbook/Guidelines

Alrighty, Firstly congratulations on joining the Staff team! We are delighted to have you. I know you’re very excited to start your journey of helping, punishing and mingling with players. Although before you start dealing with player’s in-game I recommend you reading this Staff handbook.

Interacting
Job
Respect
Bias

Bans

Chapter: Interacting

It’s very important about the way you speak/interact with players, it could be the reason why they stay or leave. Using a calm and collected tone is crucial, you don’t want to sound to overpowering or too weak. You want to be in the middle, although act stern but with a loving punch to it (Eg. Teachers)

Another important aspect is, first impressions. When a new player joins the server, do all you can do make them feel welcomed. We want our players to stay, not leave. It doesn’t take that much time to type “Welcome, enjoy your stay!” It may not mean a lot to you, but it may mean a lot to that player.

Chapter: Job

You’re meant to punish players for doing the wrong thing, but half the time using commands and yelling isn’t needed. You’re not just a Staff member but a teacher to all players, so act like one. Don’t just go around gaging/muting players, actually talk to that player. Explain to the player he is in the wrong and tell him “don’t do it again”. You have the powers, doesn’t mean you have to use them (Eg. US Has nuclear missiles doesn’t mean they use them)

As a Staff member you are the first line of defense against hackers, trolls and Etc. We need to be able to count on you when needed and if needed. Don’t turn the blind eye and pretend nothing happens. It may take time of your day to deal/help players, but trust me you won’t regret it.

Chapter: Respect

You should respect every player. You have no right to shun certain groups, you are a Staff member not the king. Try not to exclude players. All they want is to have fun, so respect that. Just because you have commands that others don’t have, doesn’t mean you can rub that ability in. You don’t just need to respect players, but also other Staff members.

Take my word for this: if you respect others, others will respect you. It may not happen straight away, but if you stay to the rules and guidelines you will have that respect you’ve been graving for.

Chapter: Bias

This is also a huge factor. A lot of Staff are bias towards their friends and other staff members. Once you accept that duty as a Staff member you must be true to that duty. So don’t cut the line for your friends or other Staff members. If they are breaking the rules, do something against it. It’s your job. None of this “But we’re good mate” stuff. You said you would do the job, so do it!

I understand you might lose friends through this process, but it’s what you’ve signed up for. If you can’t do the right thing when needed then, I don’t believe this is the right job thing for you. Although after saying this, you can defend your friends. If your friend has been wrongly reported, deal with the issue.

Chapter: Commands

Like I stated before, this is a right/wrong time for commands. Use common sense and figure out the line. It’s not very hard once you’ve found that line. Eg. *New player joins, spamming their microphone for help* you don’t just straight up gag/mute the guy/girl. You politely ask them to stop spamming. Once they have your attention explain to them mic spamming isn’t allowed. Once that part is complete help, that player to the best of your abilities.

After all you’re here to help, not abuse. Think of it this way: you are a teacher, you are here to help, punish and congratulate players. You are not here to use your powers for your own benefit. These commands come with great responsibility.

Chapter: Bans

Bans have specific timings and offence levels, if it is a persons first time minging please don't permanent ban them, but if they are hacking, that is worthy of a permanent ban.
